Reset my primary FTP password in cPanel Hosting
Updated Apr 6th, 2021 at 15:40 BST
Your FTP password (which is also your cPanel login password) lets you upload files to your cPanel Hosting account through an FTP client. You can also use this password to log directly into cPanel without going through your hosting account.
When you first set up cPanel, it generates both a login name and this password for you. If you forgot your FTP password, or want to change it from the default, here's how to reset it.
Go to your TsoHost Client Area: https://my.tsohost.com/clientarea.php Go to Services. Click on My Services. Select the cPanel service in question. Click on the Login to cPanel button. In the account Dashboard, under Settings, next to your Password click Change.
Enter a new password, confirm it, and then click Change Password.
Related steps: To change passwords for other (non-primary) FTP users navigate to cPanel - FTP Accounts section, see also: https://docs.cpanel.net/cpanel/files/ftp-accounts
Next steps: You can use an FTP client (like FileZilla) to connect to your hosting account with your cPanel username and password.
Note: When you try connecting to your cPanel Hosting via FTP by using your cPanel username and password you would need to use Port: 22
