How many dedicated IP addresses can I get?
Updated Oct 31st, 2017 at 12:05 GMT
Dedicated IP addresses are only available on a dedicated server and not on any shared server. This is due to the fact that there is a global shortage of IP addresses. Due to this reason we are unable to issue a dedicated IP address unless you are on your own server.
Do I get a dedicated IP address if I install an SSL?
Unfortunately not. Often we do have customers who are on a shared server asking us whether they get a dedicated IP if they install an SSL for their domain. This is not possible again due to the global shortage of IP addresses. To install an SSL for a site on a shared server the server would have to support SNI (server name indication).
We have to be able to justify every IP we use to RIPE, the authority for IP addresses, so we are not able to give out IPv4 addresses where they are not absolutely required.
